BEYOND SEVILLE: GETAWAYS THAT LEAVE THEIR MARK

Sometimes, the best way to understand a city is to step away from it, shift the rhythm, change the scenery and embrace a different silence.
Plácido y Grata

At the hotel Plácido y Grata, we invite you to look beyond Seville’s winding streets and discover the beauty that surrounds it. Just over an hour away, the map fills with timeless villages where life moves unhurriedly.

In 2024, National Geographic named the 100 most beautiful villages in Spain. Twelve are in Andalucía, and several are just a short drive from Seville. If you’re here for a few days, we encourage you to combine the best of the city with the quiet thrill of a nearby adventure. We can help you plan every detail. All you need to do is choose what you’d like to explore.

And then, come back—back to your room—to stillness. Let the day settle in your memory, your body unwind and the senses take it all in.

Olvera: the Sierra’s viewpoint

An hour and a half from Seville, Olvera rises like a white nest above the Sierra de Cádiz. Its hilltop castle stands as a sentinel of history, while the church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación seems carved from the very light that wraps the village. Wander through its Moorish-inspired streets, visit the Museum of the Frontier and Castles, and take in its vast, clear and deeply peaceful landscape.

Zahara de la Sierra: the white between the mountains

Tucked inside the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, Zahara rests beside the calm waters of the Zahara-El Gastor reservoir. Its ancient Nazarí fortress, winding alleyways and the view from the Pinsapo Garden, make this village feel like a sanctuary suspended between the land and the sky.

Setenil de las Bodegas: living inside the rock

Just over an hour and forty minutes away, Setenil is unlike anywhere else. Its homes don’t sit beneath the rock—they arise from it. Sculpted by the Guadalporcún river, the village forms a world of its own. A walk along Cuevas del Sol and Cuevas de la Sombra is a walk through stone, light and shadow.

Vejer de la Frontera: a southern balcony

Less than two hours away, Vejer is a village that feels like a living postcard. Perched on a hill in the Cádiz countryside, it blends Andalusian architecture with a serene, bohemian charm. Its narrow cobblestone streets, flower-filled patios, the Cobijada viewpoint and the distant sea breeze make it unforgettable.
