Founded on the pillars of authenticity and connection with nature, Rowse shas established itself as a benchmark in the natural cosmetics sector. In this interview, we explore with Nuria and Gabriela how their life philosophy directly influences their company, reflecting a commitment to holistic wellbeing and environmental sustainability.

For you, what impact does connecting with nature have on personal health and wellbeing, and how is this reflected in Rowse’s philosophy?

At Rowse, we believe that true beauty is intrinsically linked to authenticity and truth. We see a growing demand for beauty products that not only focus on improving external appearance, but also prioritise internal wellbeing.

Inspired by the authenticity and purity of nature, our philosophy is reflected in the creation of 100% non-toxic, plant-based products. We recognise that a connection with nature nurtures the body, mind and spirit and therefore our products not only beautify, but also promote a sense of harmony and balance with the natural environment.

What are the specific benefits Rowse products offer compared to conventional cosmetic products?

While the industrial cosmetics industry has been trying to mimic the natural benefits of plants in their formulations for years, we strive to use natural ingredients in an authentic and effective way.

We believe that skin health and well-being lie in an intrinsic relationship between what we consume and how we care for our skin. The skin, the largest organ of our body, is a reflection of our inner health, which is why we look for natural and organic ingredients in our food, free of pesticides and grown locally.

We firmly believe in the power of nature. Nature provides us with a wide range of beneficial ingredients that can be used to care for and improve both our skin and our general well-being.

The industrial cosmetics industry has been trying to mimic the natural benefits of plants in their formulations for years; we strive to use natural and equally effective ingredients.

“We have always advocated pure, organic, vegan and sustainably sourced ingredients.”

What role does sensory experience play in the development of your products?

We take ingredient selection very seriously. We base our research to develop new products on natural assets extracted from plant leaves and fruits that are effective and perform a specific function on the skin.

Our team works to keep abreast of the latest trends and the most commonly used active ingredients in cosmetics today. This allows us to develop products that meet the specific needs our customers are looking for, while maintaining our commitment to the purity, efficacy and safety of natural ingredients.

How does Rowse’s philosophy align with current trends towards more sustainable and conscious living?

When we founded Rowse, the cosmetics industry was overloaded with products that focused solely on surface appearance, with no real consideration for skin health. There was a lack of transparency about ingredients and many brands were using chemical-laden, toxic formulas.

While it’s true that we now see more brands adopting these same practices as Rowse, back then it was a rare prospect. We are proud to have been pioneers in this movement towards more conscious and ethical cosmetics.

We have always advocated pure, organic, vegan and sustainably sourced ingredients. Whenever possible, we opt for local producers and suppliers as a way to reduce our carbon footprint. We also collaborate with small, independent laboratories in Spain to produce our products and use cold-pressing processes rather than heat or chemical solvents. By working on a human scale, with small productions, we can guarantee traceability, as well as maximum freshness and quality of our products.

If you could describe the essence of Rowse as a scent, how would you describe it and what plants or natural elements would be included in that fragrance?

If I had to describe Rowse with one scent, it would be our signature Summer Body Oil, which has a subtle summer, holiday scent. Part of our inspiration is the minimalist Mediterranean aesthetic and our body oil could not better represent that line.

Plus, the orange colour of the oil adds that little bit of sunshine.

Summer Body Oil is a subtle warm yet sweet scent, like a sunset on the beach. It has notes of Bergamot, Neroli, Palmarosa and Monoi; it will envelop you in a unique and comforting olfactory experience.

What products do you propose for a self-care and relaxation ritual at Plácido y Grata?

Without a doubt, a floral night routine for sweet dreams at Plácido y Grata. I would start by cleansing my face with our Jasmine Cleansing Balm, which has a delicious Jasmine scent, apply our Rose Water which is soothing and toning and finally our Melatonin Sleeping Mask, a night cream based on melatonin and lavender. Not only the smell will take you to another dimension, but lavender has relaxing and calming virtues. We assure you a restful sleep.
