Our team is one of the main pillars of Plácido y Grata, a boutique hotel that is much more than a place to stay, but a real experience to remember.
Join us as we introduce the faces behind the magic that fills Plácido y Grata, and discover how their tips can transform your stay into an unforgettable journey.
Placido y Grata is a modern and elegant hotel. What impact is it having locally?
Although the hotel opened its doors almost two years ago, even today, there are still many locals who don’t know it and look rather surprised as they walk in. However, that number equals the number of locals who know us from the beginning and who come to enjoy the hotel premises as if it were their own homes.
How would you describe the ‘Museum area’ where the hotel is? What can we find in this neighbourhood?
The area where the hotel is located is unique because here you can indulge in total peace in the middle of the city centre. In this neighbourhood, you can find the Museum of Fine Arts, very special palace houses like the one in which this hotel was built and an art market taking place every Sunday morning. There are also streets to get lost in without checking the time, and a shopping area as well.
What is your favourite thing about your job at Plácido y Grata?
My favourite part of the job is informing all the customers about specialty coffee and why we prepare our coffee in such a different way than it is usually made in the city. As a barista, I really enjoy it when a customer starts feeling curious and asks me about this world and seems very eager to learn.
What do the guests think of the hotel? What is their impression?
All the clients who enter Plácido and Grata are enthralled by the beauty of every corner of the hotel. It is common that right before leaving, they comment on the tranquillity that reigns here or the sensitivity with which it has been designed.
A unique place in Seville.
It is very hard to choose only one spot in the city, but if I had to recommend where to spend an evening or a night in late summer or early autumn, I would choose the Barrio Santa Cruz; a small, labyrinthine neighbourhood with many narrow alleyways to get lost in. It would be interesting to read some curious facts on the internet beforehand, so you experience it to the max.
Any cultural spaces in the city that you would recommend?
Hands down, the cultural space that I’d recommend due to its offer and variety is a bookshop called “Caótica”. Not only can you find tons of books and good coffee to sip on while you read, but you can also feel part of it in every sense.
What is the best way to discover Seville?
The best way to discover Seville is not to hop on an open-top bus and let yourself go, albeit it may be the easiest. The best option would be either finding a walking city tour or a local who can show you Seville through his eyes. That way, you can enjoy the real essence of the city.
Can you tell us about any secret places you will never find in travel guides?
Although it has been closed for a while, the Museum of the painter Amalio, in the Plaza de Doña Elvira, is a place that should be noted not only for the artworks but also for its cosy terrace with stunning views of the city.
What is your favourite time of the year in Seville? What is so inspiring about it?
Like almost everyone else, my favourite season in Seville is spring. What the city can offer you during this time goes beyond the popular Semana Santa and Feria de Abril. Seville looks much more beautiful covered with blooming orange trees with a smell that blends with the scent of the incense filling the streets; that’s what inspires me the most about it. And the temperature is perfect for taking walks at almost any time of the day.
Does Seville change much from day to night?
It all depends on the season of the year, but in summer, for example, whilst during the day there is usually not much activity on the streets due to the high temperatures, in the afternoon and evening many people go out to the terraces and enjoy the beauty of the city.
