MORE THAN A TEAM | pt. 3

Seville has a special color. Anyone who has ever listened to this popular song or has had the opportunity to experience the magic of the Andalusian capital knows about it.
Plácido y Grata

The team behind Plácido y Grata has a personal history with this charming city.

Little by little (part 1, part 2), they are revealing their favorite places to us so we can see the city through their eyes. Jot them all down and come by to meet us at Placido y Grata on your next getaway.

How long have you been living in Seville? How do you relate to this city?
I was born in Seville and have spent all my life here (27 years), except when I was doing my apprenticeship in the Basque Country. I’m 100% involved with this city. I live, work and have a good time here.

What do you like most about this city?
Its atmosphere and good vibes. It is turning into a very cosmopolitan city while maintaining its traditions and character. In the end, this is what attracts locals and non-locals the most.

A perfect postcard picture of the city.
The sunset on Triana Bridge.

A scent that immediately takes you to Seville, wherever you are.
The smell from incense; it is typical of the Easter festivities in Seville.

A place where you like to go to relax and replenish energy.
The perfect plan: improvising a picnic by the riverside.

What is the best area to go for a walk?
Plaza España is a big area; very nice to go for a walk.

A place to try a delicious bite.
I’m a sushi fan, so my favorite place is Nikkei 7-6. It is a new, small place with japanese-peruvian fusion cuisine. Quite a flavor explosion!

A store you find special.
I personally find local markets very unique. They have everything while they also feel very familiar.

There is the flea market every Thursday on Calle Feria. And the food markets: Mercado de Triana, Mercado la Lonja del Barranco, Mercado del Arenal, and Mercado Puerta De La Carne.

A sound that comes to your mind and that is characteristic of the city.
The sound of clapping and castanets.

A good plan to do in Seville with children?
The Alamillo park is a large and safe area, perfect for playing with the children, make picnics, ride on bikes, etc. They also do a lot of activities in the summer.

How long have you been living in Seville? How do you relate to this city?
I was born in Seville and have been in this city all of my life (27 years), except for the time when I was in the Basque Country doing my training. My relationship with the city is at 100%. I live, work and have fun in this place.

What do you like most about this city?
The atmosphere; a good atmosphere. It is becoming a very cosmopolitan city without neglecting its traditions and idiosyncrasy, which, in the end, is what attracts locals and foreigners the most.

A perfect postcard picture of the city.
For me, it would be a view of the Cathedral and Giralda from Mateos Gago Street, with the fountain in the Virgen de los Reyes Square and the surrounding orange trees.

A scent that immediately takes you to Seville, wherever you are.
By far, the smell of orange blossom, but also incense is prevailing in the streets of Seville before, during, and after Easter due to the countless churches that this city has. But, as a cook, I also find remarkable the smell of marinated anchovies that you get as soon as you walk onto Tetuán Street.

A place where you like to go to relax and replenish energy.
Well, despite spending long hours on my feet because of my job, I need to do sports to relax, and there is nothing better than doing it in one of the many parks in the city.

What is the best area to go for a walk?
The historical center of the city is incredible, and not only because of the architectural value of the buildings. For those of us who are from here, we already feel used to it and may not give them the value they deserve. It’s also the atmosphere, the people, the bars where you meet with friends. All that and even more adds a very special touch.

A place to try a delicious bite.
Eating tapas in Seville is well-known to everyone. There are so many bars… and you always find something special in one that others don’t have. I go for tapas to several places, depending on the area. I love traditional tapas with a modern take.

A sound that comes to your mind and that is characteristic of the city.
That’d be the sound of the bells from the churches. You can hear a lot of them in the old town. And the sound of horses’ hoofs on the cobblestoned streets.

A good plan to do in Seville with children?
Isla Mágica is a good plan for children, just like it was for me when I was a child.
